FDNY and The Donald 9.12.21 How does one cope with a terrorist act? The emotions are on high alert. I am upset, teary, angry. Everybody wants to pitch in, lend a hand, give support. There are flowers and memorials on the streets around trees, throughout the subway system. Holland sends us a million tulip bulbs. On the streets, in outdoor cafés, everyone stops when a fire engine goes by and gives its firemen heartfelt hand of applause. I am now keenly aware and appreciative of the service that police and fire men and women render to us risking their lives every day because of the great tragedy they endured.
